When confusion comes and chaos permeates the atmosphere like a shrill staccato of cackling laughter, I turn my eyes toward heaven and tune my ears to Your Spirit. Instantly, I feel the warmth of Your smile shine upon me and the comfort of Your arms surround me. I listen to the still small voice of Your Spirit encourage, exonerate and exhort me. I listen as You pour the tonic of truth tempered with love into the tumultuous waters of my soul. I hear You sing,
“You were made in love. From the deep furnaces of love I’ve pulled you forth, and the hot embers of history are enkindled by the flame of your life. This flame never dies, though sometimes cooled; you are never blazing out of control. You are the burning bush ablaze with the fire of My presence.
“Steady warmth come forth! Bring out the bright lights! The time for hiding has come and gone! Come forth into the light; you are shameless! I have held your shame upon my skin. I have withstood the sacrificial scourge for you. Do not fear. Do not cower beneath the enemy’s rod. He will accuse you all night long.
“I have done more than condone you; I have acquitted you of all blame by my blood. Your heart is golden, upright, and pure. Walk in the light of my love. Go forth no more into the dark places of shame. Walk no more in the old shelter of sin. Its comfort was a cold shackle wrapped and swaddled with chains.
“I have done more than condone you; I have acquitted you of all blame by my blood.”
“Link by link I have sundered the chain of death with my light. This light exposes lies and reveals truth. Can you see? Can you see yourself shining in me? Can you see my light shining in you? I shine from the inside of your eyes. I shine in everything you see, say, and touch. Those who have seen the light from your eyes have seen the light of the eyes of God. I burn inside your heart. You have but to let me out. Allow me permission to live through your life.
“Let me overcome the evil one in your mind. Let me lift the load of wickedness off your back. Walk with me up the high hills. Let’s do this you and I; we will succeed. Come my sons, my fathers, my brothers, my friends. Come my daughters, my mothers, my sisters, my bride. You are my family, and we are one.
“We have the light ahead of us. We have joy laid out before us, and rest; just a few more steps, just a few short steps to go. You can do it. You will overcome. You have overcome in me.
“Walk in the light as I am in the light and you will find the faithfulness you are searching for. We are one in unison and in substance. I have formed you from my breath and voice. I spoke your name and you were a living being.
“I am your God. I am your Father. I have chosen you; I have called you out of darkness into glorious light. Live in the fire of my love. Let nothing douse your flame. Let nothing quench your fire. Let nothing steal your fruit.
“I have come that you may have life. Don’t submit yourself again to the yolk of slavery. Walk with me, and I will walk with you. Take your time to sit with me and I will speak to you. I want your presence before your performance. I want your love before your life.
I want your presence before your performance; I want your love before your life.
“This is how you learn me. This is how you get to know me. Not only by the words I speak, but also by the pleasure of My presence. The prophet proclaims a thing, but do you know him? Truth is most terrible without the anchor of trust. Trust that I will keep you and teach you my ways.
“Behold how I swaddle you with love. I permeate you with peace. I protect you with righteousness. I strengthen you with joy. I am jealous for My children as a mother bear for her cubs. I prune you and admonish you with love until you grow into the full stature of Christ.”
John 14:16-18, 26-27
16 I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; 17 that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.
18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.
