Deliverance dances barefoot upon the ashes of dead dreams. The darkened soot sinks into her soles, and she paves a path of joy through the pigment of the past. Stale dust sails in the wake of her tresses, and she evicts the noiseless hollow of hopelessness with a song, a shout, and a full hearty laugh. She clears out the cluttered cobwebs and thrusts aside the curtains of eclipse. She awakens the lightless with saturating sunbeams, and makes a way for brilliance to abide.
As I join her in the dance upon the dust of disappointment, hope resurrects within my bloodstream. The old life ascends into something new, and I feel like I can fly. This is the evidence of grace—the transformation from death to life.
This is the evidence of grace—the transformation from death to life.
God gives grace to the crushed and restores the broken bones bound by age-old sorrows. The evidence of old holes and hollow souls is seen through healed scars. These scars are not ugly; they are the evidence of redemption and regeneration. The wake of our wounds becomes the ornament of our healing. Our scars paint a picture of the promises of God. They are the road-maps of our recovery, the testimonies of the Father’s unrelenting grace over our lives.
The wake of our wounds becomes the ornament of our healing.
These scars are imprinted within the unseen centers of ourselves, yet they manifest in the flavor of the fruit of our lives. Jesus still wears His scars as the evidence of Love’s sacrifice for the salvation of Adam’s kind. In the same way, our own scars will become the crowns of glory we wear in triumph over the ways of this earth.
When we awaken from the cold cocoon of this life into the dawn of eternal light, the wings of our freedom will be colored and striped by the pains of our past life. We will be wondrous and beautiful to behold, not in spite, but because of the evidence of the grace of God purifying and perfecting us each into our own unique pattern of Christ. Oh, what joy it will be when we awake to find ourselves clothed in that surpassing weight glory.
