Seek My Face.jpgLife is loud on the surface. Here we listen to the noise of the world’s machine grinding, assembling, and mixing in its monotonous rhythm. We clash in these common places, so near and yet so far apart.

Nothing here seems sacred in the streets where the filth gathers at our feet. I cringe to see the hopeless faces marching in a hapless masquerade. These are those that gather in the marketplaces in search of meaning; these are those who search for purpose in all the wrong places.

How can I keep the plague of superficiality from infecting my heart?

Where can I go to escape the love-numbing noise of hollowed out humanity? How can I keep the plague of superficiality from infecting my heart? I have to escape the wide road marred with popular profanity. I hear Your invitation to come up higher. I turn aside upon the narrow path.

Here in the silence, I find the substance my soul seeks. Here among the heights, I hear you whisper secrets in my ear. I have traded the illusion of community on the crowded surface for true communion with my Father. We have become one. I am in the Father, the Father is in me.

Holiness is neither lonely, nor exclusive. Holiness is inclusion into the heart and nature of God. Here we perch ourselves face-to-face with our Father, and gaze. Here in this place, we connect. We coalesce. We commune. Holiness dwells in a high and lofty place, but also with lowliest of the low, with the true and the poor.

In the presence of your Holiness, my hands lift high and my heart bows low.

In the presence of your Holiness, my hands lift high and my heart bows low. You breathe out, and I breathe in. The white-noise of the world dissipates; all I can hear is the heartbeat of God.

My spirit sleeps in renewal; my heart stirs up in revival. Clarity comes with welcomed wings, and my liminal perspective takes flight. I begin to see through the aerial eyes of Heaven. When I return to the crowded surface, my heart is overflowing with abundant love. I can see beyond the shallow superficiality, and I begin to plant seeds of His kindness in the hearts of those who are starving for love.

Help me to hear Your beckoning call. Quiet my soul to hear Your whispered invitation. Teach me true communion with You that I may truly commune with others. Let the light of Your face shine upon me. Fill me with the holiness of who You are.

Come sons and daughters, come. Come and see the secrets stored up in the eyes of heaven. Taste the light of our Father’s presence, and see that He is good.

Isaiah 57:15 – For thus says the high and exalted One
Who lives forever, whose name is Holy,
“I dwell on a high and holy place,
And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit
In order to revive the spirit of the lowly
And to revive the heart of the contrite.

Psalm 27:8 – When You said, “Seek My face,”
My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.”
