“We walk by faith and not by sight,” but we are far from blind. Faith sees all in the fullness of God’s light and casts all shadows away. Faith calls form from formlessness, declaring, “Let there be light,” and there is light. No darkness can stand beneath the light of faith.
We walk by faith and not by sight
Faith supersedes seeing; it knows there is more to reality than the light spectrum can show. The very eyes of God are faith, eyes overflowed with confident hope and blind to impossibility. If we walk with natural sight alone we will stumble in the dark, but faith makes a way where no way was thought possible. Faith lights a course through the darkness that natural senses cannot see or comprehend.
Again, night has fallen, and outside my window I see the gloom of death’s chill riding across the earth. I cannot see hope. Darkness seems to envelope the world. But, as I close my eyes, my hope rides in like the sun. I see the rivers of joy that sustain me on-and-on into everlasting.
We are the light of the world
This darkness cannot cover us. We are the light of the world. This wraith of death cannot dissuade or discourage our souls. We find comfort, for in faith we know that glory’s weight overwhelms the thin sheet of darkness on the outside. All it takes is one light to shine in faith for the darkness to be dislodged, and its power destroyed.
